Germination

Germination

By far, I have achieved the highest success rate using:
  1. Good seeds
  2. Good soil
  3. A temperature-regulated germination box.

Building a seed germinator

In past years, I had moderate success germinating seeds with a heat pad and a thermostat. But the seeds that have a long germination time (e.g., bhut and other super hots) have been problematic. Keeping the right balance of hydration and avoiding moss/mold growing on in the pots is problematic. This year I built a simple germination box using a light bulb, styrofoam isolation,  and a thermostat. I will put the thermocouple (the silver piece on the end of the black wire) in the dirt of one of the pots. This way the temperature of the dirt and not the air will be measured.
